The Process_ How Our Drawings Become Products
For me, Byaas didn’t start with a business plan; it started with a pen and a blank page. Long before these designs became the brass and copper pieces in your home, they were personal drawings—a way for me to express my thoughts and explore intricate motifs.
The Design Process
Every product we create begins as a hand-drawn design. My drawings are a form of self-expression, where I focus on the small details that eventually become the textures you feel on our products. Whether it is a floral motif for a planter or a geometric pattern for a coaster, every line is drawn by hand before it ever reaches the workshop.

A look back at where it began: the original 2018 motif for our planter collection.
How We Build: Sketch to Steel
The process is a direct collaboration between my creative work and our family’s heritage in metal fabrication. Here is how we bring a piece to life:
-
Design & Create: I hand-draw every detail of the repoussé (raised metalwork) in my sketchbook.
-
The Craft: A craftsman takes a flat sheet of metal and uses these drawings as a guide to hand-beat the design into the material.
-
The Finish: The product is shaped, refined, and finished in our 70-year-old family workshop.
A Blend of Cultures
What I love most about Byaas is that it is a perfect blend of cultural heritage and modern design. It’s taking an ancient Indian craft—passed down through three generations—and applying it to the modern objects we use every day.
When you see the subtle indentations on a planter or the weight of a brass bookmark, you’re seeing the signature of that journey—from a drawing to a finished heirloom.

Every piece begins as a personal hand-drawing in my sketchbook before it is meticulously translated into hand-beaten metal art.
