Sculpted Crane Repoussé Brass Heirloom Vase
A single hand-forged solid brass vase, about 14.25" H × 13.1" W, with cranes and botanical motifs in 360-degree relief and a burnished brass finish.
What it is: A solid brass vase with a hand-applied antique patina. Cranes and botanical motifs are hammered in by hand using repoussé, over 60+ hours of work.
Why it matters: The crane is a symbol of longevity and grace. The vase is heavy, with museum-quality relief, and made to be collected and passed down.
How it works: The relief is hammered from the reverse side by hand, which is what gives the cranes their depth. Do not leave water standing in it for long. For flowers or plants, set a plastic container inside the vase to hold them (dry stems need no container at all), and wipe it clean after each use.
When to use it: As a floor or console sculpture, or with tall stems.
What alternatives exist: The Peacock & Palms is smaller and wider (about 6" H × 11.7" W). The Twin Fish is a narrower tall form.
Care: Brass needs careful care and changes color over time. That is natural oxidation, and many people value the patina. Dust with a soft cloth. To clean, use a soft cloth dampened with mild dish soap and warm water, wrung out until damp but not dripping, then a second cloth dampened with plain water, then dry fully. Do not use vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda, salt, abrasive cleaners, bathroom sprays, or bleach. To restore a tarnished piece, use a dedicated brass polish such as Brasso sparingly, because over-polishing removes the surface treatment.
